A dark figure moved out from the bushes soaked to the bone for it was rainy where he had hitched a ride, he sniffed as he moved across the grass. Sitting himself down on one of the many picnic tables he dug quickly into his pocket. Pulling out half a pack of smokes he then fumbled with his black Zippo. Letting the cig hang from his lips he lit it and took a long drag. Running a hand through his wet brown hair his eyes looked about.
Not a soul, it was very dark and only three dim yellow street lights shot off some light. At least it outline the objects so he wouldn't vbreak his neck walking about. He wondered what town he was in, he could see lights just alittle ways off. Standing from the table he went to the road, removing the smoke he gave a violent cough before he stuck out his thumb. He needed a ride into town and was going to take any ride at this time of night.
Plus maybe get a few dollars in the process, John would rob some people. But only people he could see himself robbing. But not now, he was gonig towards the town not away. When it was time to leave this shit hole then, and only then would he rob some more loser.

It had been said several times that Adrienne was dizty, not very smart, and sometimes just plain stupid. Some of the times she deserved it- like when she stayed out all night partying or forgot how many days there were in the month of July. She knew her overprotective parents might be pissed off at her for driving home alone, late at night, but Adrienne failed to see what terrible things could happen to her. She wouldn't just pick up some random hitchhiker, and she had never been in a car wreck. She was a responsible driver, and she kept her eyes on the road, for the most part. Therefore, she reasoned, she would be perfectly fine driving home from the mall in another town alone.
With the CD player playing Lily Allen's "LDN", and the ugly blue used Oldsmobile Cierra only making loud, somewhat annoying noises when she hit the brakes, Adrienne decided she was perfectly fine. After all, she wasn't just going to pick up a some random guy, like the one standing just a bit further up the road.
Oh my God, there's a hitchhiker up there! Adrienne realized.
However, upon realizing that the guy was in fact, a male, all reasoning evaporated from Adrienne's mind. After all, he might be one of those cute college guys, the kind Adrienne just simply adored. He's either a cute guy, or a creepy murderer. Adrienne pushed that thought out of her mind- seriously, what could happen? She had a cell phone, she could 911 if she needed to. She probably wouldn't need to, she figured, because there was a chance that the hitchhiker was just a cute college guy visiting someone or something.
Therefore, Adrienne abandoned all caution and reasoning, and pulled over. It was dark, and she couldn't see his face clearly. "Need a ride?" she asked, smiling in what she hoped was a sweet, flirty way.

John's mouth pulled up into a smile "you bet I do" he said smirking before he opened the door to her car. She was pretty and if she was anything like the other girls that had picked him up in the past, she'd be a walk in the park. Sliding himself into the passenger seat he cleared his throat and tossed his smoke out into the air, it had started to rain once more, a light drizzle.
Shutting the door he turned to her, his face could be seen under the yellow street light. "Thanks, it's raining cats and dogs out there" he said rubbing his right eye for a moment, it was itching. Sniffing he didn't bother clicking in his seatbelt "where ya heading to?" he questioned, before running a hand over his short brown hair.

What did I do? Adrienne thought. Now that she could see his face, she realized he was definitely not a cute college guy. In fact, he just might be the creepy murderer. Adrienne gulped.
"Um...I'm going to Arden Falls...is there anywhere you need to be?" she asked, trying to keep her voice calm and even. She tried to convince herself she would be just perfectly fine- after all, she had her cell phone, and they weren't that far from town. Everything is going to be okay, she told herself. Really, nothing bad can happen. I'm just overreacting!
Still, Adrienne couldn't believe that everything was alright. As much as she didn't want it to, there was still a tiny part of her brain that told her that something was just not right. Adrienne sighed, trying to silence that part of her mind. She was going to be just perfectly fine.

John shook his head "nope don't have anywhere to be" he said smirking. He leaned himself back into the seat and gave a long sigh. His mind went to the bad ideas. Should he steal from her?... she didn't look like she had anything expensive on her.
Pursig his lips he looked out the window as the rain started to fall heavier then before. It would be a long night, turning back to the girl "I guess Arden Falls is where I'm heading then" he said smiling. Sure John was a creepy guy, when he wanted to be.

"Um...okay," Adrienne mumbled, keeping her eyes on the road. Please, God, please don't let me get murdered just because I don't believe in God and drink alcohol even though I'm too young! Adrienne hadn't prayed since she was a little girl who went to church weekly with her parents, but now felt like a good time to start again. She couldn't remember why she ever took the chance- he was not the cute guy she had been imagining. She should have never, ever offered him a ride.
Adrienne didn't freak out or get nervous a lot. Actually, she did get nervous, but only in the Oh-my-God-I-lost-my-purse or the does-he-really-like-me ways. Very, very rarely in the afraid-for-her-life way. Despite living in Arden Falls her whole life, Adrienne had been able to avoid major life threatening trouble, for the most part. The worst she ever had to worry about was a creepy hobo hiding in a dark alley or an angry, drunk boyfriend. She often easily scared, especially after watching scary movies, but some part of her usually always realized that she was overreacting. But right now, she was beginning to thing this fear was very rational.
Adrienne wondered what would happen if she did die- and then she instantly tried to stop that thought. It wasn't exactly what she needed to hear right now. Instead, she tried to remember the relaxation methods from her mother's old how-to-relax videos. Breathe in, breath out, everything is going to be okay. Everything is going to be okay...as long as I don't freaking die!
OOC_ Sorry it took so long for me to post. Writers block. xD
