Sing to me the song of the stars.
Of your galaxy dancing and laughing and laughing again.
When it feels like my dreams are so far
Sing to me of the plans that you have for me over again.

Aiko didn’t know what to say. Aaron had completely opened up to her and allowed all the truth to flow out. He had told her about his father. She couldn’t exactly say anything because she wasn’t experienced in the whole father relationship area…considering she had no father, and didn’t know him. But maybe she didn’t have to say anything. Maybe it was Aaron who was trying to tell her that she is not the only person who has a fucked up family, and that there was a reason why fate brought them together. She just hoped that she could uncork the bottle that she had full of her secrets without hurting herself. Because she had never opened up to anyone before…she watched him run his hand through his hair. It was very short. She wondered if he wanted to grow it long. Sometimes long hair helped when you got pissed off. It was an excuse to take your anger out on something. But then he sighed. she never really heard Aaron sigh much. He was normally calm and happy. If he did sigh, it was a sigh of relief, or if he had been working hard and relaxing, a sigh of relaxation. But she knew that this was a sigh of frustration. She wanted them to divert the conversation from family to something happy, to something in the present…the future. Because family now was in the past, because Aiko was moving away from her nightmare. She saw a crooked smile form on his lips and knew that he was just putting on a brave face; his genuine smiles had more warmth to them, and reached his eyes. It’s okay, not like you could do anything about it. Not like anybody can.
She looked down in defeat, knowing that no matter what she could say, nothing could turn back time. Aaron was right. But she wished that she could have been there for him before, to help him through it all. she didn’t want him to even think about it, wanting to diver this mind to the happy place, something that he had done to her. but then she heard another louder heavy sigh escape his mouth, and her face showed how much it pained her to see him like this. she placed her hand up to him, hesitated, but then placed it on his strong shoulder, and comforted him, smiling up at him. They needed to talk. Not now, but they needed to tell each other things. She knew that there were still things about his father that he hadn’t told her about, and that she hadn’t told him about her fatherless life. But at least they had each other to comfort each other when that time came. Plus, she owed him an explanation of her life…seeing as he had basically decided that she needed looking after…by him. He looked at her face as he spoke, saying to her that his things were hers, his house…food. She smiled. She didn’t eat that much at all, he was right in saying that. Just drank excessive amounts of coffee! She knew that he was telling the truth when he had said that he could afford it and wanted it, for he was a very good mechanic, and they brought it a good income…compared to the rest of Arden Falls. They seemed to always lock eye contact whenever they listened to each other during conversations, unlike most conversations with people where they avoided looking at the others eyes. No, it wasn’t awkward like that when Aiko spent time with Aaron. He always got her full attention, and vice versa. Sometimes they didn’t even have to talk, just enjoyed being somewhere different with each other. He was the male part of her family that she had never had, he was her older brother, someone she could run to and say she has a new boyfriend, someone to cry to when she was lonely. And she knew that it wouldn’t be awkward if he had to comfort her.
She loved the way he smiled, it was always full of warmth, well…his real smiles were. Even though his forced ones and crooked ones were funny in their own way. she returned his smile and nodded when he said You’re welcome. She was relieved that they were finally getting away from the hospital. It had been a long time since she had entered the doors of one, and she never wanted to go back. Was it all white to make it look peaceful? To settle the mind and not convince you that death would come a knocking. As he steered with his left hand he used his other to flick through the radio channels. Aiko noticed how his eyes moved from the radio to the road, radio to the road, repeatedly. He stumbled across a decent station that seemed to be alright, and Aiko kept watching him as he rolled his window down and stook his arm out of the window. She felt about doing the same, getting air to her stinging arms, but she knew that she would just make both of them cold, so she didn’t bother. As he watched her when she answered his question she could see that he too knew that it was going to be a hard job avoiding her mother, and even a harder one facing her. when she answered, he switched hands again, this time driving with his left. he reached over and took her small hand, squeezing it slightly. She smiled and returned his delicate squeeze. I’ll be right here. She nodded but her smile faded as he pulled into the an alleyway near her house. She knew that alleyway well, had braved to walk amongst it’s dark shadows when she had to escape at night, because sleeping was more dangerous than walking the streets alone and night. I know Aaron. She said but turned away, looking down. She wouldn’t cry, she didn’t want to cry, not over her mother. It was like crying over a guy…it was just a waste of tears. She was so very tired though. She hadn’t had any sleep, and the lack of food was making her dizzy. Perhaps going to Starbucks was a wrong idea, seeing as it had just made her stomach upset.
As he slowed near her house she wondered what the plan was. He would probably tell her, because she couldn’t think straight. They slowed down even more as his indicator flipped on and they backed down through the alleyway. He was very good at manoeuvring the truck into the tight spot. The engine stopped and she looked up to see her window…it was still open. her mother probably didn’t even bother looking in her room to see if she was home, that’s how much she cared. She didn’t know if it was lack of food or nerves but her stomach was turning, especially when she saw Aaron place his keys into his pocket…that meant show time. He said his plan. You can climb into your window, I’ll hoist you up there. Then you can just pass me things out here and we’ll put it into the bed of my truck. Thank God it’s so tall. As he smiled, Aiko laughed…an uneasy laugh. she glanced up the pipe. Looking down it from above it looked small, but looking up it, it seemed to look huge. But she knew that she was just being silly, because she had climbed up and down that drain pipe thousands of times. She let out a sigh, trying to free all the butterflies in her stomach. But it just seemed to make it worse. She really wanted to move out…wanted it so badly. She had the opportunity now….she just hoped that her mother was out…or passed out on the sofa. She glanced back at Aaron and gave him a smile, before he got out. She watched him go and her smile decreased in size. She opened the door and looked up at him standing on the bed of the truck. She smiled faintly and brushed her hair from her eyes, before walking slowly to the drain pipe. She stopped dead in her tracks though. Her eyes widened as her mother’s harsh words filled the air. Butterflies emerged from cocoons in her stomach. Akio - if that’s you - you better get your scrawny ass inside now! she turned around and looked at Aaron’s hardened face. She looked down and noticed his hands had formed fists.
They both stood there in silence, and she thanked god that the truck was hidden by the house. She closed her eyes and hoped that her mother didn’t come and look round the corner. Her breath was held, a habit of hers, for whenever she hid from her mother, she held her breath. At first she had sucked at it, but now she could hold it for a quite a long time. It was something that bought her time, and sometimes, left her with less marks on her than usual. She opened her eyes again, they were slightly teary with slight fear of being hit. She looked at Aaron and felt safe though. She knew that he would be there and get her mother off her before she hurt her. she sighed a sigh of relief when she hurt her mother go back inside and close the door shut. She looked in Aaron’s eyes and saw that he was worried about her going up. Don’t worry about her. Any trouble up there and you call for me, okay? Promise? She was shaking slightly, so she self her arms close to her body, just like she had when she admitted to Aaron about her scars. She listened to his words and subtly nodded. She swallowed hard before speaking. I promise. It was more of a mumble. She turned around and after he hoisted her up, she made her way up the pipe, slowly, because she was still dizzy, and she didn’t want to have a dizzy spell halfway up the pipe and then fall. she clambered into her open window and looked around. she would sure miss her room. She knew that she wouldn’t be able to take her piano. She walked over to it, and brushed her hand along with shiny black surface. She would have played it one last time if it didn’t give her away. Her heart was beating rapidly, as if she was in a horror movie, and her mother was some monster in the house, making her way slowly to the room. The silence and the long wait freaked her out. She grabbed her suitcase from under her bed. It was half-full already with some clothes and shoes, because she had wanted to run away before but was blocked from getting out. she had to sit down on her bed when she remembered that awful night. That was the first night that she had been hit properly, and she still had the scars to remind her of it. She wiped away the tears that suddenly started to flow and regained focus, knowing that Aaron was realizing on her to pass him her things swiftly. She threw the remaining clothes from her closet into her suitcase and grabbed her toiletries. That was all she needed. Her bedroom looked bare now. No clothes, accessories, shoes in the closet. Drawers open with nothing inside of them. All that remained was her grand piano. This was probably the last time she would see it. she walked over to the window, looking down and Aaron. she dragged the suitcase up, and because it was long in length, it was quite easy transporting it from her height down to Aaron’s. She made sure that he had got it before attempting to climb out again. But again…something made her stop.
AIKO SAPPHIRE FUCKING SUMMERS! The voice ripped through Aiko and sent shivers down her spine. She was in her room. Her mother was standing in the doorway. She looked down at Aaron’s eyes. Help. She whispered, as loud as she could so that he could hear. She was going to climb out and just run from her, but two hands grabbed her shoulders and pulled her back away from the window. Before she knew it Aiko was pushed on the floor, her mother standing over her, flames in her eyes, and fists by her sides. Where in god’s name have you been! I had half of mine to call the police! Her mother shouted, and Aiko slammed her eyes shut. When she opened them again, she had her own fire burning inside them. Well you should have then, and they should lock you up! Aiko spat, her voice hoarse from the sudden anger mixed with tears. She just prayed that Aaron heard her cry for help and would make his way to help her. She tried to get up, but the minute she stood up, her mother’s hand came into contact with her cheek in a huge lash. Covering her hand over her burning skin she tried to push her mother away from her, far enough so that she had a chance to flee. But her mother took this to advantage, and grabbed her arm, right where her wounds were. Aiko screamed as her mother’s tight hand made her arm sting like crazy and the pain added to her uneasy stomach and dizziness. She felt like passing out. But she knew that her mother would also take this to an advantage and start beating the hell out of her. Her mother pushed her against the wall and grabbed Aiko’s chin between her index and forefinger….tightly. So tight, it started to hurt soon after. Aiko knew that she had her legs free and that she could kick her mother, but her mother was so in control of her, and so close, if she did kick her, it would only result into Aiko being in more pain. Her mother started to scratch her face with her long nails as she held onto her chin. She looked away, not wanting to look inside the vicious demon eyes. but that only gave her mother more access. Soon after, long red lines appeared onto the side of Aiko’s face. Now Aiko’s appearance was bad. Her right cheek was burning red from the slap, but now that same cheek had numerous long tender lines on them. As Aiko endured the torture of her mother’s vicious lashes, her scratches, slaps, hits, and vile insulting words, Aiko’s eyes remained on her bedroom door, as she prayed for Aaron to appear in the doorway.
