Kadie was well-known around here. It was a small town, it wasn't that hard to know everyone. But Kadie was also known as the Snow Queen. She'd calmed down a lot since she graduated high-school, but it was still a well-known fact that she wasn't a girl to mess with. There had been several guys who had tried to melt her icy heart, all had failed.
She had flings and one-night stands and such, but nothing ever stuck for her. She couldn't seem to do commitment. But, she didn't want to do commitment. She'd been hurt before, and she vowed never to let it happen to her again. So, she was tough. She'd been working out, and she was even on her way to earning her black belt in karate.
Yeah, Kadie could be a real bitch sometimes. Especially to guys that she didn't like, which was most of them in this town. She had guy friends that she got along with really well, and she could be nice to guys at the club, and sometimes they got lucky. But she was just mostly the Snow Queen. Icy cold towards most guys.
It was Friday night, and as usual, she could be found in Benson and Barnes. She was at the bar, with her vodka in hand. She looked sexy. She always liked to look that way when she went out and partied. She had on a short black dress that showed off her curves, and her hair was done up. So yeah, for a girl who shunned most guys who tried to get something, she looked like she asked for it. She was just sipping at her vodka, when all of a sudden, she felt arms go around her.
"You know, a beautiful woman like yourself should never drink alone," came the rasping voice of a male behind her. He reeked of tobacco and alcohol. There was no hesitation on Kadie's part. She elbowed him really, really hard right where it counts.
"And a guy like you should learn to talk to only girls he can handle, which is probably none," she said sharply. She watched as he slid to the ground, moaning in pain. Kadie ignored him after that. She turned to survey the room, looking for any of her friends. She was popular, even with her Snow Queen status, so she figured it wouldn't be too hard to find a few of them.

As usual, it was about ten o'clock when Jake Dean shoved open the door to Benson and Barnes. The bass could be heard out in the street but there was nothing to compare to opening the door and feeling the adrenaline kick in as the music filled your ears. It took a few seconds for Jake to gather his wits and be able to handle the noise. However he was used to this; he came here most nights a week searching for something beyond drinking at home in his little flat. He spent his days in his car or in Starbucks, and his nights in the club ready for whatever a night on the town might bring. Strangely enough he was alone tonight; often he'd bring a couple of mates but tonight they were out of town or had new girlfriends or were too smashed from their last hangover to be any fun at all. But then, sometimes it was better when you were on your own. You had more chance to talk to people one-to-one, which was more useful if you were looking for someone to amuse you for the night. Of course, sometimes it was just full of high schoolers.
He passed the dancefloor, resisting the urge to get out there and start moving, and instead headed over to the bar. It tended to be the best place to look for someone to chat to if you were out on your own. Tonight looked like a good bet; the club was busy but not overly so. There were a couple of cute blondes standing against the wall on one side but Jake's attention wasn't caught by them for more than a second before his attention was drawn instead to a girl sitting at the bar. She looked about his age, give or take a year. From here he couldn't see what she was drinking. He could see a good deal of leg though, always a good first impression. The black number she was wearing was flattering - obviously she knew how to dress. As she turned her head a little he vaguely recognised her from around the town; he'd probably seen her with her girlfriends or perhaps she'd gone to high school with him. He couldn't put his finger on her name. Probably a good thing, since it showed he hadn't previously dated her and so it was probably worth a shot.
Sliding across the room and into a stool beside her, he relaxed for a few moments before turning to her. "Can I get you another one?" he asked, keeping his voice light. He had learned that most women who sat at bars didn't go for the sleezy smile and wandering hands straight off the bat. He took his time looking at her; in the day he would have been more descreet but in Benson everyone probably realised that for the most part all people were looking for were one night stands. Jake had always had commitment issues, he could openly admit that he couldn't stay faithful and right now what he wanted was a girl who could accept that one night of fun was a good start at least. Anyway, this girl. Long shiny brown hair which looked touchably soft, and alluring green eyes. Jake drummed his fingers softly on the bar, a smile coming to his face. "Jake," he introduced himself, a little loudly so she could hear over the music.

Kadie kept on sipping at her drink. Finally the guy that she'd elbowed slinked off giving her a glare. She just glared at him once more as if daring him to come back. Her attention wasn't on that prick of a guy for long though. Some guy slid into the stool next to her. He was then offering her a drink.
Okay, so she had to admit that he was attractive. Very attractive. But Kadie could ignore that when she wished. But, she did enjoy her flings and her one-night stands. She wouldn't allow them if she didn't. She just made sure nothing went beyond that. But it wasn't as though she was a slut or anything. Only the extremely lucky ones got laid. The ones she found the most attractive. And it was no secret that she couldn't commit very easily at all. She was running out the door within two weeks tops.
He was certainly taking his time looking at her. Kadie wasn't naive. Every guy who usually talked to her in this place was looking for her to give them somethin'. Not that she minded. She liked the fact that she was attractive to men. She also liked being held for a night occasionally by the select few, and then never thought about it. She also liked leaving most of the guys around here feeling sexually frustrated.
Not just anybody could buy the Snow Queen a drink. But, it was only a drink, at least for now. Most of the time that's all it turned out to be, if indeed she let the guy buy her a drink.
"Sure," she finally said with a shrug.
"Vodka," she added. He introduced himself, and Kadie was sure that she'd heard the name before. Probably one of those guys who was used to getting exactly what he wanted from a lot of girls in this town. Did he realize that she was the Snow Queen? Probably not, at least for now.
"Kadie Taylor," she replied giving him a slight smile in return. Most everybody knew that her name was associated with her nickname. She hadn't even been the one who had come up with her name. But some poor fool that she'd pushed into the pond by the school when he'd tried to get too fresh with her. There had been a lot of poor fools who had tried to melt her icy heart and had found themselves in similar situations. Still though, it wasn't high-school anymore. She'd calmed down a little. If only a little.

Jake chose to ignore the guy across the room who was giving him dirty looks, guessing it was something to do with the girl sitting next to him but not minding too much. Truth was, Jake loved it when people were jealous of him. It just helped his ego. He did try to curb it sometimes but most of the time everything about him showed he was confident. He hadn't really had any major knocks to it in his life; after his parents' split they basically both spoiled him to make sure he realized they 'still loved him even though they didn't love each other'. It had been quite priceless. Of course, all for naught now that they were back together. At least it meant he didn't always have to listen to them complain about each on the phone any more. Although he tended not to call them so much these days; it was better for him to be living his own life, or as much a life as he could live in crappy little Arden Falls.
As she agreed he flashed a grin and hailed the barman to order two more vodkas. It wasn't his favorite drink but he was in the mood for something a bit bitter tonight. Did she give him a look of recognition when he told her his name? Jake couldn't quite tell. He wouldn't be surprised if she did know him a little. Of course when she introduced herself he got a bit of a surprise. Kadie Taylor. "Thought I recognized you," he said with a knowing smile, although it was a bit of a bluff. No need to ask why that was so familiar. He was surprised he hadn't been able to remember it but she did look quite different now than he'd remembered her from high school. Smoother. Or perhaps it was the dress that was making her look so sexy. He knew she was known as a bit of a tough girl though; when sharing stories with mates once he heard that one of them had tried to make a move and almost had his lights punched out. Jake eyed her a little more warily, wondering what he was getting himself into. She seemed fine so far, friendly even. And he wasn't going to pass up the chance just because of rumors.
The Vodkas arrived, and Jake slid his quickly towards him, loving the way the first sip went right to his head. By the end of this drink he'd be dancing. Though perhaps not alone. Glancing back towards Kadie, he pondered conversation topics. "Been working today?" He finally asked. A good way of finding out how old she could be and where she worked. A job could tell a lot about a person. But what did that say about him, unemployed? This made him laugh inwardly. Although actually he didn't think many people worked in Arden. Or not of his age anyway. Just out of school, they should be enjoying themselves like he was doing right now. Jake's gaze flicked back to Kadie for a second as he debated making a move before deciding he'd leave it, just for now, wait for the opportune moment.
ooc ; sorry, didn't give you much to reply to there.. although you'll have a couple of days to reply since I'm going away until Monday. I'll reply as soon as I get back though =) Ciao for now!

Kadie smiled as he said that he thought that he recognized her. No doubt, he probably had friends who had tried to get her in high-school. There had been many guys back then who had bets going to see which one could melt the Snow Queen's icy heart. Of course, all had failed. None had been able to get past her mask. She knew that she'd been attractive back in high-school, but she was even more so now. Actually come to think of it, she had probably seen Jake back in high-school. He was more sexy now.
She sipped at her drink, taking it slow with it. At his conversation starter, she really wondered what to say. Saying that she was unemployed at the moment sounded so lame, didn't it? But it was true. Though she was looking for work.
"Well, I'm not employed at the moment. I just tried college here, didn't like it so I just dropped out," she admitted. Of course she wanted to become a journalist. But the schooling offered here was so pitiful that she'd never get anywhere. There was so much crime and crap at the school that it just didn't offer much. Most people around here might be okay with that, okay with their lives, but Kadie wanted more. So, instead of school she was spending her time looking for work. She was determined to save up her pennies so that she could move out of this crappy town.
"What about you?" she asked him curiously. She noticed that his gaze flicked to her again, and it was like she could tell that he was considering making a move on her. Smart that he had chosen to wait. Making moves on the Snow Queen was like an art, or so most of the guys who had actually won her over had said. But then, winning her over was nothing. She was with them for a night and then it was over. And if she saw them again, she pretended like nothing had ever happened. She pretended like she didn't remember.
One of these days though, she was sure that it was going to come back and bite her in the ass. One of these days, she could agree to a one-night stand, and it could turn out to mean more to her then that. That was something she looked to avoid. But hey, she was the Snow Queen. She was supposed to be devoid of all emotion right? Unfortunately, that wasn't true at all. But, she was just looking to have a good time tonight.
She'd had a lot on her mind, what with her parents and all. Her parents drove her insane. She was looking forward to moving out. But on the other hand, living with them didn't require her to pay rent, which would mean that she'd be able to get out of the town quicker. Still though, getting her own apartment away from her parents, probably would have so many pluses, that she was really considering it.
"So Jake, do you do this often? You know, try to charm girls all the way to your bed?" she asked bluntly, she said it with a smile though. That was just Kadie for you. Outspoken as all hell. She said whatever was on her mind. She was just keeping it real. You never really knew what Kadie Taylor was going to say or do next. She was quite the unpredictable chick.
ooc: Alright, see you then xD.

She looked good with a smile. Despite all the tales he'd head about her, there was no doubt that she was a pretty girl with a pretty smile and she could probably always get her own way. It was easy for girls; all they had to do was bat an eyelash and they got what they wanted. Guys had to work a bit harder. Jake was pretty sure he'd got that down to a fine art; he had always been proud of the fact he could charm anyone. Choosing the right words for a situation usually came easily to him. Except, perhaps, when he had to sympathise with people. Serious conversations, giving advice, being a shoulder to cry on, Jake didn't really do. He was the one you came to for a good party or an icebreaker.
So she was unemployed. There was loads of that in Arden Falls. Either no one was offering jobs or no one wanted the crappy jobs they were offering. But college he found interesting. Jake had thought, very briefly, about enrolling, then quickly decided he was done with teachers and cliques. "Bad as everything else round here then," he commented with a sly smile. What about you? she then said. "Unemployed too," he replied, "Although I haven't been looking too hard. I'm thinking work's overrated." He took another sip of his drink. He was dreading having to work, unless it was something easy. Or something well-paid. But nothing particularly appealed. Office jobs were Jake's idea of hell and having to serve people from behind a counter, wearing a cap no doubt, would be social suicide. Not to mention he wouldn't be able to spend so much time here, drinking and staying up all night.
He eyed her over the rim of his glass. She seemed to be mulling something over in her mind. Although it was only a couple of seconds and a couple of sips longer and then another smile spread across her face. He tilted his head to one side a little, questioningly, although when her words came they surprised him. So Jake, do you do this often? You know, try to charm girls all the way to your bed? He kept his glass to his lips as he pondered an answer. Obviously, this girl was smart. Experienced. But something about her tone made Jake suspect she wasn't against his tricks. Well, his nights didn't usually go this way. But then trying new things was thrilling. Kadie was certainly an interesting person. She made him curious.
Putting his drink down, he slowly leaned in a little closer. "All the time," he said with a smile of humour. She could take that however she wanted. It wasn't entirely true, but Jake wasn't convinced it was a bad thing anyway. He hadn't found 'the one' yet, so why not have some fun along the way? He drummed his fingers on the bar and met her gaze. "Why, are you tempted?" He asked, keeping his voice low, smiling wryly and resisting the urge to lean in and kiss her immediately. These things took time.

Kadie could tell that he was a charmer. He was probably used to getting exactly what he wanted. Nothing had given Kadie greater pleasure then to shoot those type of guys down in high-school. But, she'd grown up a little. She liked to talk to all different types of guys, and this one intrigued her in a way. Of course, she wasn't going to be like other girls who probably batted their eyelashes at him. She was definitely flirting, but it was more subtle then that. She got what she wanted in other ways.
"Yeah, that's true," she said with a smile, in response to his saying that it was as bad as everything else around here. It was all too true unfortunately. She couldn't really stand it around here. She wasn't against small-towns or anything. But this one lacked the small-town charm that might have kept her in one place. But then again, she was quite the restless chick. It was hard to keep her in any one place for very long. She wasn't here by choice.
"Well, usually I like to think that work is overrated, but I really need the money to get out of this town. So I suppose that work wouldn't become so overrated to me once I get out of here," she responded. She then sipped her drink. He then was leaning closer and responding to her question. Yup, he was pretty good. She wasn't really surprised at the response though. But it didn't bother her. It would have been hypocritical had it bothered her, because she did the same. He seemed a lot like her really, someone with commitment issues who just wanted to have fun. At his question, she smiled coyly at him.
"We'll see," she responded as she leaned in closer a bit, acting as if she was going to kiss him before pulling back with a slight grin. She was almost sure where this night was going to go, but then again, she was unpredictable. Besides, that would come later. She liked to get to know the guys at least a bit before she jumped into bed with them. It was like a thing for her, she liked to prove that even after she got to know a guy, she didn't fall for them. She just got to know them, slept with them, and then didn't bother about them again. It may have been harsh, but it was just how she did things. No strings attached. Just one night of fun, and that was that. That way, she didn't have to worry about pain and heartache, it was what it was.
"So, you're also one of the unlucky ones and lived here all your life?" she asked. She was sure she had. She just couldn't believe that they hadn't really talked before. Although, if she would have talked to him in high-school, he probably would have been just another one of her victims.

He returned her smile in agreement about Arden and all its flaws. It was funny, everyone who lived there tended to complain but so far no one had tried to improve it, or taken any notice of the complainers. Jake suspected it was on a slippery slope to ruin. Not that he cared too much. He'd be out of here before that happened. It surprised him when she said she'd be leaving too. They really seemed to be kindred spirits, in a strange way. It was obvious that she was a smart girl; knowing how to get her own way and taking no nonsense along the way. And she was obviously up for fun without too much involvement, which made it easier for Jake because he knew she wouldn't be leaving tearful messages of dejection on his cell phone two days from now.
"Same," he agreed grudgingly, "LA, here I come. Once I work up enough cash." He thought briefly of Haleigh from the park, who had been so opposed to the bright lights of city life. She had been a strange girl, content obviously just to settle down in a small town and go on singing folk songs and raising kids. But where was the fun in that? Talking to Kadie was easier; they had things in common, they wanted the same things, and they were prepared to do whatever it took to get them.
Jake watched as she leaned in closer, and he could smell her perfume and the alchohol and he was all ready for the kiss when she said We'll see with a sly grin. Ouch, she was playing with him. He watched her, half-smiling, realising that she had pretty much served him that time. Too hasty perhaps? Still, at least now he was more certain of what she wanted, what she was here for. It put him at ease. Until later then, he thought and finished his drink as conversation turned light again. So, you're also one of the unlucky ones and lived here all your life? "That's right," he laughed, "Lucky me." By her phrasing, it was evident she'd also been here all the time. How had he missed her? All the better to get to know her now, he supposed. Unless she had been one of his childhood friends, the ones he'd let go after entering high school. Most of them he couldn't remember the names of.
"It's better now I've got my own space," he continued, "Athough actually I haven't changed much since I was a kid. Lost my baby fat perhaps." This was accompanied by a cheeky grin, although he spoke the truth. He'd always been one to want his own way all the time. And after a brief phase of braces he'd been ready to face the public. That was when he was thirteen. Things had hardly changed since. Jake circled his finger around the top of his glass, and, only now realising it was empty, glanced back at Kadie with a smile. "Dance with me."

"I love California. LA and Fransisco has got to be two of my favorite places in the world," she replied when he mentioned California. She liked New York too, but living in New York meant modeling, and living with her Aunt who wasn't much better then her parents. She probably could go out and live there if she asked, but she despised modeling so much, that she did nothing. Though the longer she lived here, the more she thought about the idea. At least modeling would give her money. Money to become a journalist. Now that was her dream, and she vowed that she'd get it. And she didn't need her aunt's help to do it. So that was why she stayed. She wanted to find a job of her own and make it on her own.
Yeah, so far, she really liked talking to Jake. It seemed that a lot of people that she talked to, were content to be here. They didn't have any larger dreams then settling down and raising a family. Kadie didn't see anything wrong with that, but she was smart. She knew she was smart, and her passion was writing, so she wanted so much more for herself then what this town had to offer. It wasn't being snobby to think that either, and she'd kick the ass of anybody who would suggest that to her. But Jake was somebody who understood that, who wanted to leave this town and who wasn't settling either.
She listened to his response with a smile. She was actually glad that they hadn't really talked before now. She would have hated him in high school. But then, that was probably only because she'd hated a lot of guys in high school. Especially guys like Jake. Charming guys who thought they could get whatever they wanted. Now, high school was just over and guys were just guys. Yeah, she still ended up despising a lot of them, but nights like these; she she just wanted to have fun, and Jake was the exact type of guy she'd like to have fun with.
"You know, you probably would have annoyed the hell out of me in high school," she commented with a grin. As he asked her to dance with him, she looked down realizing that her drink was gone anyway. Plus, she really liked the song that was playing.
"Alright. But you better dance as good as you look, mister," she agreed teasingly as she got up and tugged on his hand. So far, everything was relaxed and just fun. She liked nights like this when she could just forget about everything else. It was just the dancing, the hot guy, the alcohol, and that was it. She didn't have to care about anything else.

I love California. LA and Fransisco have got to be two of my favorite places in the world, she said, and Jake grinned. "Agreed," he replied, "Although I'm sure NYC is worth a visit." His smile faded a little; Jake had barely been outside the boundaries of little Arden Falls; his parents weren't poor but after their divorce neither had had the cash to take him anywhere. And even now, they didn't spoil him that much. Jake had promised himself that he'd see the sights, but this was not enough of an incentive to pick up a job. What he needed was for some modelling agency to spot him on the streets, or a randomer to give him a winning lotto ticket, or a rich third cousin to die and by chance leave him some great sum, just to get him started. Of course he didn't kid himself that anything would actually happen, but it was amusing to come up with scenarios that would solve his meagre situation.
Her next words made him laugh. You know, you probably would have annoyed the hell out of me in high school. It was said out of the blue in a way, but he'd come to realise that that was the sort of person Kadie Taylor was; spontaneous and definite - you'd always know exactly where you stood regardless of whether you liked it. "Good thing we're not in high school anymore then," he replied, eyes dancing. Did that mean, then, that she had not been so easy-going in high school? He could imagine that. Seemed she had matured a lot to be so practised at the subtle flirtatiousness she seemed to have made an art of. It was alluring, not as desperate as some of the more slutty girls he sometimes got caught up with round here. Of course, it also seemed more serious and Jake would have to be careful he had no attatchments after tonight. That would do no good for his lifestyle. So far he'd been able to avoid falling for any of his one-night-stands, and he intended to try and keep it that way.
He watched her glance at her drink, which he realised with triumph was finished. That meant she was one-up on him. He'd have to have another later. Or perhaps back at his place. Alright. But you better dance as good as you look, mister. Wow; she was quick. He felt a little thrill run through him. This was the most fun he'd had in a while. She slipped off her seat, and pulled at his hand, and he followed wordlessly, letting go in order to slip his hand round her waist instead in order to steer her out onto the dancefloor. Even after one drink, he felt his inhibitions leaving him. Not that he had many to start with, of course. Jake had never taken any dance lessons, having refused ballet point blank as a child and never really got into the street dancing of some of the more hardcore members of Arden high school. Still, he'd learned by watching other people, ever since he'd first started clubbing years ago. He kept his fingers at the small of her back, enjoying the sweet scent of her perfume and the bass, like a heartbeat, running through him.
If she was a smooth talker, he hadn't seen her dance. The dress had been a good choice from the start. It reminded him of a music video. But he was part of it, which made the situation so much more real. "I'm impressed," he said, "You definitely dance as good as you look. Which is definitely hard to achieve."

"Yeah, New York is awesome,"she admitted. If you took out all of her memories of the place, it really had been. When she'd first gotten to New York, she'd loved all of the buildings, everything really. It wasn't something that a small-town girl was used to, but she'd gotten used to New York. She'd loved the way people had talked back there, and how their lives had all seemed to be going somewhere. Of course, at the same time; it had been a bit painful to watch. Because there she'd been pregnant, watching the people who were really going somewhere with their lives. But then, she'd lost the baby. And she hadn't known until she lost it, how much she'd actually wanted it. She would have taken that baby over all of the other stuff in New York.
Of course, she didn't act like that now. All that she'd been through had toughened her. She'd been told that she would probably never be able to have kids of her own. She'd been devastated for awhile. But she picked herself up and moved on. It was hard to see though, the people in this town who were falling in love and having babies. But then she thought of the career she wanted, and it didn't seem so bad. Journalism, writing really was her passion. Once she got out there in the world, it would be great. A wonderful experience that not many in this town would ever be able to experience. Good thing we're not in high school anymore then. Kadie looked up with a grin.
"Toshay,"she responded with a nod. Yeah, she would have liked nothing more then to shoot him down back then. She'd liked to do that to pretty much every single ladies man. There were many guys who wanted to be that one guy to win over the Snow Queen, it just didn't happen back in high school. And she wasn't planning on letting it happen outside of high school either. She just lived a little more on the edge now. She let guys get a little closer nowadays to prove something to herself. To prove that she couldn't be won over. That she wouldn't let herself.
As he steered her out onto the floor, she grinned at some of the other guys and girls who eyed them. But when they started to dance, they were forgotten for the moment. She smiled up at him at his words. Her arms went loosely around his neck, and she went up a little, her mouth by his ear.
"You know, you aren't so bad yourself,"she responded in his ear, kissing it just slightly while she was there, before pulling back a little, a soft smile playing on her features.

It was funny; if someone asked Jake if he was into music, he'd probably reply with a non-commital 'yeah', but of course he'd never be able to give you any favourite songs, or any songs at all really. He'd been bought an iPod last year by his mother who had obviously been trying to come up with ways he could spend his time. But it had been useless to such a sociable person, because when you had headphones stuck in your ears it was impossible to keep a conversation going, especially when you couldn't work out how to use the volume control and it therefore was stuck on high the whole time. Plus he'd not really put any music on it. So now, it was lying around at home, looking cool but not actually being used. He ought to sell it on eBay. Or perhaps give it as a gift to a girlfriend to demonstrate his great love.
But right now, with the music blaring, he found that it made him feel wonderfully alive. He may not be able to understand a word they were singing but the mood was set with great style. So, perhaps he did like music after all. Of course, he liked the company more. Dancing on your own was possibly the most pointless activity you could do, unless you were dancing in order to attract the fairer sex. Which, luckily, Jake didn't have to do. Toshay she replied and he smiled. That meant she agreed, perhaps. Or simply accepted that despite it not feeling any different, life after high school was different. There were totally different rules. It was great, because the limbo between school and job, teen and adult, was basically the best of both worlds. What Jake would do not to have to get any older, to savour these moments forever.
You know, you aren't so bad yourself, she responded, leaning close, and he tightened his hold on her, marvelling at how good it could feel just to hold someone. It almost made him want a girlfriend. But of course he had to quell those feelings quickly, because it was never a good idea to decided to try and settle, because as soon as you did some amazing girl would walk round the corner and you'd regret it big time. Still, the warmth and the whispers were nice, even if they only lasted a night. He leaned in, to whisper in her own ear. "I'm not so bad at a lot of things," he replied, half-jokingly because it was a line probably only used by the worst players in the worst pubs and clubs.
He let one hand come up, to run his fingers through her hair. He might be well practised at charm but it was always a good feeling when he got what he wanted. Or perhaps who he wanted. Obviously it wasn't a done deal yet but.. there was something about her; he didn't want to go home with anyone else tonight. It was with this in mind that he leaned in to kiss her, hand pushing back her hair from her face. He almost wished he could keep his eyes open, to stare into her pretty green ones.

Kadie was very into music. She actually had a really great singing voice, but it wasn't something she shared often. She could also play the piano. Again, not something she generally told people. Not that she thought she was bad or anything, it was just one of those things she supposed. But then, she also wasn't the type to carry her Ipod everywhere with her either. She was also very sociable, and would rather talk to people then have the tunes cranked up in her ear all the time.
Going to the club though, there was pretty much always music going on. But it was great. The atmosphere, the music, the people; it was just Kadie's scene. And the music served to make it that much better. Tonight, the guy she was dancing with seemed to make the music even better as well. And as he tightened his hold on her, for a moment, she knew that she wouldn't mind if somebody held her like this for more then just one night.
But, those thoughts simply would not do. She was the Snow Queen, she never let guys in very far. That's why the one-night stands always worked, cause there was nothing to worry about. You had that one night of fun, and then it was over. You didn't have to worry about getting your heart broken, and you didn't have to worry about a relationship. Sometimes, she knew that it would be nice to have that other person, but she wouldn't allow it. She didn't need it, is what she always told herself. She was a highly independent chick anyways. She'd probably just end up annoying the hell out of a boyfriend. Cause didn't they always want someone they could take care of? She probably would have a hard time letting a guy try to do so. Try to protect her. She'd want to protect herself. She supposed it might be nice to have someone take care of her for a change, but she was used to taking care of herself and totally capable.
No, these nights were always good. She was scared though that one night it wouldn't turn out to be just one night. Feelings would somehow develop. She knew she'd freak out and run if that happened though, she'd deny it. She'd keep on running away from it. She was scared as hell of commitment. Not that she'd ever admit it. She wasn't supposed to be scared of anything. If only that were true. I'm not so bad at a lot of things. A laugh escaped her lips at those words, and she rolled her eyes a bit playfully at him.
"I'm sure you're not,"she responded with a smile. As he ran his fingers through her hair, she had the thought that she was glad that it was him tonight. Who knew if it'd be another guy in this club another night. But for now, she couldn't even think about other guys. And that was actually fine with her. At least for a night, right? It actually felt good to forget about everything and everyone else as he kissed her. She tightened her hold a little and deepened the kiss, everything else just fading away for the moment.

Her playful laugh assured him she was on the same mind track as him. It was always good to know. It was amazing how many times girls had misinterpreted him. Obviously it was more difficult in clubs because everyone was pretty much there for the same thing. But when he met new people, it seemed like the ones he only wanted to be friends with thought he was coming onto them. There weren't many of those obviously, but it just must be his amazing charm. He'd decided a while ago not to put it to waste, not with all that perfecting. So now he gave them what they wanted, unless they were entirely repulsive. And it was usually in this settting, no strings attatched. Only on occasion would he actually date them, although he had been known to take them out to dinner sometimes. He could never decide whether he was a romantic or not.
As he leaned in, his prayers were answered because she took the hint and responded with her own kiss. A thrill ran through him as their lips met. It was funny; despite how much kissing he did, you just couldn't beat the moment you kissed someone new, the sweet sensation where nothing else mattered except you and them. It was romantic and spontaneous simultaneously. Her hair was soft under his fingers and he was pressed close to her, and the music didn't seem quite so loud, and he could taste the vodka on her tongue. He took his time, reluctant for the moment to end because then he'd have to come back to reality. As he did pull away, his lips tingled. Colours seemed brighter. Kadie seemed prettier than ever.
"Well that was nice," he concluded, hands finding their way around her waist again though he didn't move away. It was almost as if that had sobered him a little, although he wasn't too far gone. Lucky for Jake he was confident with or without alchohol. Still sometimes it paid not to get too drunk, because then you couldn't tell whether you were enjoying something or not, because it could just be the drink talking. Especially when you were doing something, really worthwhile because you'd probably not remember it in the morning anyway. And this is why he was glad he could spend a night with Kadie; he had a feeling he'd like to remember it.
The music faded a little, into something slower. He glanced at her. If he wasn't loving being close to her so much he might have suggested getting another drink, because dancing was the sort of thing that gave you a raging thirst after a couple of songs. And slow dancing had never particularly been Jake's thing - it had always seemed like the sort of thing old married couples did. And yet he supposed it was times like this that he'd be willing to put with it. He'd let her decide.

Kadie actually could not remember the last time she'd been out on a date. And that was because, she simply didn't really go for that type of thing. Dating led to attachments, something she looked to avoid. But occasionally, she did see those couples out on their first dates, and wondered why she guarded her heart so fiercely that she didn't even allow a date. But then, those moments would pass and she'd remember why. These nights were fun and safe. It didn't require you to feel the awkwardness of a first date, or the awkwardness felt when thinking about whether or not the guy was going to call you. Still though, at times she thought it might be nice.
God, he was a good kisser. Kadie always loved that first kiss. She loved it all if they were really good, but there was just something different, something special about that first kiss. It was the kiss that Kadie sort of let herself go. The other kisses generally were far more heated, and in the midst of extreme passion. Those were the kisses that simply meant you wanted to go to bed together, but they really meant nothing. This kiss with Jake though was anything but that, even though she knew where they probably would end up. Nah, if she allowed herself to think about it, she wouldn't mind being kissed like this all the time. As he pulled away, putting his arms around her waist once more, she smiled softly in response to his words.
"Yeah, it was nice,"she agreed. She was really glad that she wasn't completely drunk. Some of these nights had been forgotten because of alcohol, but this one, she knew she'd want to remember; and generally, she didn't really care that much if she remembered it or not.
As the music's pace changed to slow, she half-expected him to suggest going back to the bar. When he didn't, she wondered really what she wanted to do. It was nice having him hold her, but slow music wasn't really her thing. In fact, it was slightly scaring her that it did feel so good to be in his arms. Not that she showed any of that outwardly. She thought about rushing this, just going back to his place, setting the pace to really fast. After all, she was quite sure that they both wanted the same end result. But something was holding her back from rushing the experience, she just wasn't quite sure what that was yet.
"Tell me something about yourself," she invited, looking up at him with a slight smile.
